Welcome

South Georgia Ballet is a regional ballet company founded in 1998 by Alison Bundrick, Director of South Georgia Performing Arts. The South Georgia Ballet Company is designed to provide additional training and challenging performing opportunities necessary for the serious dancer. Dancers age 9-18 audition each spring and fall for the upcoming year and come from a seven county area in South Georgia and North Florida. The Company season includes three shows beginning with Ribbons & Strings, An Evening of Music, Dance and Art.  In December SGB presents The Nutcracker and concludes each season with an original ballet in the spring. Past performances have included The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, and Beauty and the Beast.  The Company also tours the region with their Company in Residence program bringing choreographic works, master classes, lecture demonstrations, and backstage experiences to South Georgia and North Florida.

Under the direction of Alison Bundrick, Founder and Artistic Director, Company dancers are given professional instruction and are exposed to classical repertory. Company dancers receive further training with regional and national instructors and choreographers including Suzanne Farrell, Jane Wood, Orialis Serrano, Kevin Martin, Nicolas Pacaña, Pamela Robinson-Harris, Peter Swan, Fiona Fairrie, and Henry Hernandez. Guest instructors and master classes enrich the company class schedule, which involves additional weekly classes and Saturday rehearsals. South Georgia Ballet made its first guest appearance in Albany Ballet Theatre's Nutcracker in December 1998, and this season will mark our eleventh annual performance. The 2008 Nutcracker returns to Thomasville in cooperation their Victorian Christmas Celebration on December 13 and 14.
